Gallery

Here are examples of  work incorporating HandFast findings. The design community is constantly taking HandFast products into new and different realms, and we like to share this with the visitors to our Web site.

Some of the pictures were first shown in bead magazines and books; some pictures show pieces made by and for HandFast; some of the pictures came from independent designers and other bead artists who just want to share their work. In every case the artists are credited, and where possible links to their Web site and/or e-mail address are shown.

If you have some work that you would like to see in this gallery, please send it to us at phxfox48@msn.com. We will try to post as many as we can in this rotating collection.

Pleated Beads & Pearl Necklace Pleated Bead and Pearl Necklace

Nina Kersten of Sonoran Beads created this elegant asymmetrical necklace using some of Sonoran's pleated borosilicate glass beads and pearls.

The starfish magnetic clasp (KF196B) is used as a focal piece and as a closure. In a unique design technique Nina used the double twig cones with loop (KF 219B)  as a spacer and a connector between the multiple strands of pearls and the pleated beads.

Bellflower Earrings

Marcia Kmack has used the HandFast small twig cone (KF220BB) to cap a pair of flirty folded lamp work  beads she designed. These beads were designed to work with the small twig cones. Another version of this combination is used for a pendant. More can be learned from the artist at marcia@cavecreekglassworks.com.

Coin Clasp Bangle

The bangle is made of heavy silver sheet about 1/2 inch wide and 6 inches long. The silver is hammered to texture and work harden it and then curved to an oval. Two very heavy jump rings are soldered to the ends with the openings to the side. The butterfly hooks (KF245B)
are slid on to the open jump rings which are then closed. One of the hooks is closed around the coin (KF243B) while the other remains open so that the bracelet has easy access and closure for the owner.

Simple Symmetry

Bead artists continue to surprise us. With the addition of a simple loop, the HandFast Oriental Latch clasp (CS160) has been converted into a dramatic centerpiece supporting a drop. Here, Sara Hardin of the Soft Flex Co. has created an Art Deco necklace with exceptionally clean lines. In addition to the Oriental Latch clasp, the necklace uses 32mm black onyx tube beads, and 6mm black tourmaline round beads. This design was first published (along with instructions for making it) in the April 2007 issue of Simply Beads.
